Yunnan, China. Most of us in the West may never have heard of it, but this is a Chinese province half the size of Western Europe and is also, as local man on the scene John Horstman coins it, China’s Amazon. In his own words: “everything (insect-wise) is bigger, brighter, more abundant and more bizarre than elsewhere”.
Digital Photographer magazine describes itself as "the kitbag essential for enthusiasts and pro photographers looking to refine their skills and bolster their portfolio, created by working photographic professionals". This article they asked me to do didn't make it into the publication but I've put it up as a warning to others. Originally they contacted me to just to use a bunch of my images for free to illustrate an article on stacking "because it would be such an amazing publicity opportunity for me". I didn't let them (I think a photography publication can afford to pay photographers rather than using them), and whilst they had me write an article they never used it once written. All in all my experience with Digital Photographer Magazine was very disappointing and I have no time for them. Digital Photographer Magazine is not a magazine that I would recommend working with.
